Who we are
Aquilo Gold is a Fiji registered private company founded in 2019 to acquire, re-develop and bring into production Gold Mining operations. This is to deliver returns on investment to our shareholders, bring livelihoods, employment and future sustainable agriculture to our landowners and provide royalties and revenues to the Government of Fiji.

Our Mission: To develop resources and assist the people of Fiji in recognising the economic opportunities available to them through its potential wealth.
To acquire, invest in, explore, develop and operate long-term sustainable Gold Mines in Fiji, and to enhance the lives of our local communities, shareholders and the people of Fiji.

Forming the company with Fijian and Australian shareholders and Directors
Commencing studies on the Mt Kasi project in Vanua Levu, Fiji, formerly operated in the 1930s, 1990’s with exploration continuing into the 2000’s
Acquiring Mt Kasi exploration database information
Conducting initial studies to re-start Mt Kasi mine and Gold processing
Assembling a world-class team of people with the necessary technical and commercial skills and experience
Lodged our formal application for SPL1504 at Mt Kasi and Wailevu West in Vanua Levu in May 2020
Submitted a compliant tender to the Fiji Government Mines and Resources Department (MRD) for the Mt Kasi Gold Project on 14 August 2020
Our Directors and Management
Neil Grimes: Neil is currently the Managing Director Rizal Resources, a Gold Mining Company listed in Canada with mining operations in the Philippines. Neil has 30 years experience in mineral business management, operations and project development in Australia and the Asia-Pacific. He is based in Melbourne, Australia.
Cameron Bain: Cameron is the founder and owner of Mincore. Cameron has over 25 years experience in the minerals industry including engineering of Gold Process plants, and is world recognised for his expertise in the refurbishment and operations of Gold processing facilities. He is based in Melbourne, Australia.
Jon Reynolds: Jon is a qualified Geologist with over 30 years in Exploration, mining operational geology, business development and project management. He has experience in public listed companies, was Managing Director of an ASX listed Nickel & Gold Exploration Company. Jon resides in Melbourne, Australia.
Selina Leo: Selina is one of the Co-Founders of Aquilo Gold, serves as Director and Company Secretary. Born in Fiji, she lived in Australia for 40 years before returning in 2014 to explore business opportunities. With qualifications in HRM and Business, Selina has over 25 years of experience in Human Resource Management, Public and Community Relations, including global and Australian mining experience. She has worked and consulted in mining companies in PNG, Indonesia, Egypt and Africa. Due to her cultural background, Selina possesses deep knowledge and experience in Landowner and Community Relations in Fiji. Her focus lies in developing community projects in rural areas, with a vision to ensure landowners benefit from their resources and look at ways in eradicating poverty.
She lives in Fiji and dedicates all her time to the Project.
Don Gapper: Don is one of the Co-Founders of Aquilo Gold, holds the position of Project Director and Country Manager. A Mechanical Engineer by profession, with over fifty years of experience in Project Management and Controls. His extensive knowledge spans various sectors including mining, infrastructure, mineral processing, materials handling, marine, oil and gas, and petrochemical projects, acquired through work in Australia, South America, Indonesia, PNG, USA and Africa.
Don is a seasoned Global Estimating Manager with practical experience in construction techniques, collaborating closely with construction and operations teams in Australia and internationally. He has extensive senior management skills and has overseen budgets ranging from AUD100,000 to AUD32B.
He ensured timely and cost-efficient budget management, enhanced construction and operational procedures, gained trust and support from senior company executives for project budgets, monitored budget adjustments and forecasts, supervised on-site construction activities, and implemented project control systems to maintain accurate and efficient data globally. This proactive approach has enhanced competitiveness, streamlined operations, reduced personnel and costs, and improved overall effectiveness.
Don lives in Fiji and dedicates all his time to the project.
