Mt Kasi Gold Project, Vanua Levu, Fiji

A very good example of the type of project for which Aquilo Gold was formed is the Mt. Kasi project in Fiji. Located at the Southern end of Vanua Levu in Fiji, Mt Kasi was formerly a producing Gold opertion in the 1930’s and again in the 1990’s. Exploration has been conducted by a number of companies over many decades. The most recent exploration was conducted by Newcrest Mining. After an unsuccessful campaign, Newcrest sold te asset to RGA of Fiji.

Aquilo has been studying Mt Kasi for more than a year and has advanced plans to conduct an exploration program, a site-clean up and environmental stabilisation program, and a mining and process feasibility study. Our major shareholder Mincore Pty Ltd of Australia has the technical and engineering expertise to see the project through the exploration, studies, design and construction phases over the next two years, subject to obtaining the necessary licences from the Fiji Government Mines and Resources Department (MRD).

Aquilo Gold has the support of the local landowners and agreements in place to support those local people through employment, training, education and sustainable agriculture development programs.

Aquilo Gold submitted an application for a Special Prospecting Licence in May 2020. Since then the MRD has determined to undertake a tender process for the Mt Kasi project area. Aquilo is participating in this tender process.
